I have a terrible habit of NOT measuring anything when I am cooking!! I am really saying NOTHING!! Especially for a blogger, it even seems “stupid” but it’s the pure truth!! How many times I had to remake a cake or a dish because I had no clue how much I put into it, and, how many times I remade those dishes and in the middle of the process realized that I wasn’t measuring anything again…lol! This bad habit comes from my grandma for sure!!! My grandma doesn’t own a cookbook! I don’t remember seeing her write anything down. When I call and ask her instructions about recipes, she never says: ” just one second, I will check my cookbook notes”…No, she immediately starts telling me what to do. Beloved grandma!!! I have noticed that Brazilian recipes in general are not very clear for those who are not Brazilian… lol. The other day I was looking at some Brazilian recipes online and Marilyn and I were laughing about the measurements. This one particular cake recipe asked for a full plate of… and Marilyn was going crazy saying: “how am I supposed to know how much a full plate is ??”” lol. I know because I use full plates in many recipes. Making a short story short, I think (not) measuring is a Brazilian thing. Meanwhile, I need to have some measuring tools on hand and these caught my eye.
