I think everybody knows about Shellac, right?! If you not… here comes a brief explanation about the smudge-proof nail color that lasts for weeks without chipping. The special formula is called Shellac and you put on your nails just like regular nail polish. Your nails are prepped in the same manner as a basic manicure. However, there’s a huge difference between both!
The shellac polish stays on, chip-free, for weeks. You only need to change polish when new new growth starts showing, and that’s typically after about 14 days. Shellac is from a California company called Creative Nail Design, more commonly known as CND. The company says it spent five years perfecting the product. Shellac is known also as a gel manicure.
A base coat is applied to your nail to build up a new surface. The gel is hardened under UV light for 10 seconds. After that a second coat of the nail gel polish is added and one more time your hand goes for curing under a UV lamp between every coat.
My manicurist told me the UV is used for 10 seconds after the base coat, and two minutes each between the two coats of color and the top coat.
When the top coat is done, you get a quick shine with a soft cloth and alcohol and you’re ready to go. This was my choice a couple of weeks ago: white base with colorful dots! I got so many compliments!
The down point about Shellac is the removing part. You can’t take off with a regular polish remover. And you can’t peel off the nail polish because when you do that you take pieces of your nail. Some people claim that shellac made their nails weak. I felt like that when I used to peel off the gel by myself. Since I stopped doing that my nails became stronger. My vitamins, especially, the biotin, contribute to my strong nails.
After 14 days:
I have doing Shellac for almost 2 years and I love it! If you are “Desperate Housewife” like me (Marilyn Chudda is gonna die when she reads “desperate housewife” lol, her biggest complaint about me is the opposite – if you know what I mean!!), there’s nothing better than Shellac to keep your nail polish intact.
Let me share a little bit of my life!!! Welcome to my reality!
USA starts bitching because the house is a mess!
The American keeps repeating like a broken CD the same thing over and over again… You know what I am talking about!
Brazilian reaction: ok, let’s get started!
And the Brazilian temper starts rising up!! Almost all my internal organs come out of my body:
After a few Caipirinhas and listening to Rihanna… only girl in the world…
Can someone explain to Marilyn Chudda that it is not my fault that the internet exists and I LOVE to blog!!
When this happens, seriously, I feel there’s something wrong… freaking out!
…this close… but not yet!! lol
Have a great weekend Everybody!!
Beijos e Tchau!
