LE CIRQUE D’HIVER

Are you looking for something to do in Paris that only the locals do?  Let’s talk about it!  Here’s a great suggestion that we experienced on our second day in Paris.  We went to the Winter Circus! Our friends really wanted to show us this spectacle not only because it’s so popular with the locals, but also because their friend Roberto Rosello designed the costumes which were soooo beautiful!!!

Le Cirque d’Hiver, or “Winter Circus” was built in 1852 by the architect Jacques Hittorf and has been hosting the circus since the time of Napolion III.  The building is so beautiful!!!

Normally the circus is open from October thru March. We had the chance to see this special show which was created by the Bouglione family and at the oldest circus in the world. You’ll see acrobats, trapeze artists, clowns, dogs, horses, tigers and a live Orchestra which we loved!! There was no soundtrack !! This made it extra special!

The way the building is built is in a round which makes it very intimate and you can see everything from every seat in the house!  The interior is so glamorous it brings you back to another time and place.  Be prepared..it’s very different than an American circus, but I liked it better!! It just seemed more creative, intriguing and interactive.  They brought adults and kids from the audience to participate in their stunts and shows.  It was great!

During intermission spend your time in the beautiful lounge area where you can get popcorn, wine, crepes, souvenirs and autographs from the performers!  They spend this time to interact with the audience with is such a special addition to the show!

So, if you are in Paris, especially with kids it’s a great chance to watch this circus and appreciate this beautiful building.

Brazi Bites Jalapeño Popovers
Ingredients:

1 bag Brazi Bites, defrosted

4 ea. Jalapeños

2 oz. shredded mozzarella

1 oz. cream cheese

1 T. Green onions, diced

Directions:

Cut the ends off of the jalapeños and slice down the middle.

Clean out seeds and place flat side down onto a sheet pan.

Brush lightly with oil and broil in oven until skin blisters. 
Peel the skin off of the jalapeños and small dice.

In a medium bowl mix diced jalapeños, mozzarella, cream cheese and green onions until combined.

Place Brazi Bites onto an oiled sheet pan. With your finger, press down into the Brazi Bite to create a small indentation in the top.

Place 1/2 tsp. Of the jalapeño mix in the indentation.

Place in a 400F oven and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.

Serve warm.
