LAVENDER FESTIVAL

Last friday was one of the most memorable days I’ve had lately! We went to Sequim (it’s a small city and 2hrs away from Seattle ) that hosts every year a Lavender Festival. We felt like we were on vacation because you need to plan at least a day to go there. We woke up early, stopped by at Panera Bread (one of our favorite places for a fast bite) to have breakfast and drove to Edmonds to get the ferry. When we got there there was a huge line of cars waiting for the ferry, so we had to wait about 1 hour. We got the ferry  with an amazing view and landed at Kingston and drove over one hour to Sequim. The weather was amazing: sunny and hot enough to desire a cold Lavender drink. lol

Our first stop at Sequim was at the Lavender fair. Walking through the fair was full of incredible purple colors and the smell…oh my goooossshhh!

We love fairs and It’s so nice to see “real” people and see their work, people that still produce things by hand and they are so passionate about that. Everything is so country!

At the fair we bought a delicious mustard we tried there!

There were so many things we wanted to buy!!

And also we tried this lavender white wine! We could smell the lavender more than taste it! But it was interesting especially  for me (Ludmilla) I never had any food or drink made of lavender ! I had no idea that there were so many products made of lavender!

After the fair we started our tour of the lavender farms. You get a map (they have them everywhere in the city) and drive to the farms. We paid $12.00 each for a day pass  (you can go to all the farms) at the Jardin du Soleil farm. This farm was so nice, beautiful and the smell from the lavender… we can’t explain… We wish we could bring some of it to you over the internet!…

It was there I had my FIRST white chocolate lavender ice cream (we made a video on Instagram – so much fun(here)) and also we had lavender fudge.

We sat on the grass for awhile and just enjoyed the purple fields,  the sunny day and being thankful for  having a stress free day. We were talking later why we loved so much this little trip .  We believe it was because it was so peaceful.

Being in contact with nature, being on the farms, dealing with “hippy” people there  and surrounded by  live music… Oh man…

After the Jardin du Soleil we went to another farm… Purple Haze…there we had lavender margaritas and lavender vodka.

We ate chicken with a lavender mustard made by them with a green salad.

At this farm, they had family style tables and purple chairs around a music stage. So while we were eating we had live music! It was so relaxing and fun!!

You know when you have a quick trip and you feel tired?!   It was not this case! We felt we had one week at the spa! lol It’s a Brazilian over exaggerating… Seriously, I felt great, not tired at all! It was such an exhilarating day!

We bought some lavender seasonings for cooking, walked around and planned that next year we are going to book a hotel and spend the night there.  There is so much to do for the whole weekend!!

Brazi Bites Jalapeño Popovers
Ingredients:

1 bag Brazi Bites, defrosted

4 ea. Jalapeños

2 oz. shredded mozzarella

1 oz. cream cheese

1 T. Green onions, diced

Directions:

Cut the ends off of the jalapeños and slice down the middle.

Clean out seeds and place flat side down onto a sheet pan.

Brush lightly with oil and broil in oven until skin blisters. 
Peel the skin off of the jalapeños and small dice.

In a medium bowl mix diced jalapeños, mozzarella, cream cheese and green onions until combined.

Place Brazi Bites onto an oiled sheet pan. With your finger, press down into the Brazi Bite to create a small indentation in the top.

Place 1/2 tsp. Of the jalapeño mix in the indentation.

Place in a 400F oven and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.

Serve warm.
