As many of you know, we lost our dear sweet boy Cody in January. I adopted Cody when he was 5 years old from a local shelter. We know that many people aren’t interested in adopting older dogs, but when I saw him….I was in love. We had our boy Cody for 9 years until cancer took him from us. Those of you who have dogs know that they become a part of your family…we were heartbroken and couldn’t even think of “replacing” him or getting another dog. Every couple of weeks I would get emails from family and friends with pictures of dogs needing homes, and as much as we wanted to give them homes, we weren’t ready. This changed a couple of weeks ago when we received a picture and story of this sweet girl named Stella.
Stella , a shepard mix, was a stray found on the streets of LA county. She was a puppy and born with only 3 legs (a tripod dog). She was sent to a high kill shelter and because of her deformity, she was at the highgest risk of being put down. Luckily a local organization called rescuepup.org here in Washington, she was rescued from the shelter, brought here to Washington and fostered by a wonderful family until she found a home.
When we received the picture and information about Stella, we immediately fell in love. Here was the new member of our family we knew was meant to be! . We got in touch with this amazing group and our process began!
Alicia was our go between with Noreen who was the foster mom. We visited with her and they brought her to our home to meet with our Chloe. Immediately they fell in love. We knew it was the right time and right decision! We knew that she would need special attention and care, but we were ready for the challenge!
Now, we have a new member of our family, her name now is Julia Child! And she and Chloe are in LOVE!!! We are loving having her!
If you are ever interested in adopting a dog in need, please consider rescuepup.org. They are amazing and really care for their rescued dogs. We would highly recommend them! Here is their website (here). Just a reminder that dogs in general, especially if they’re a puppy, need a lot of attention and patience. There are a lot of people that feel alone or for any reason (passion for dogs) that decide to adopt a dog. Please, think 300 times before you decide. They are like kids . They need your attention. They need to be fed, walked and taken to the vet, etc. If you are going to take a vacation it needs to be planned and they are expensive to board too. So, if you adopt any pet, especially a dog, it’s a long term commitment but so worth it! They will be your family for life and provide you more love than you will ever experience!
Now, Chloe and Julia Child run wildly around the yard, kiss and play all the time! We have so many videos on Instagram (here).
Have a Great week!
