EXTRA MOIST OVEN BAKED WINGS

These extra moist oven baked wings are sweet and spicy and so easy to make. The wings are first coated with an array of dried spices that truly bring the wings a savory and herbal  flavor, then the sauce comes with its sriracha, orange and pineapple juices, and spices to totally balance out the savory with a sweet and spicy addition.

We cooked this combination of delicious ingredients on the stove top. Once the wings were baked, we tossed them in the sauce, put them back in the  oven, and baked them again until crispy and golden. These wings are so delicious.I love the sauce! Marilyn found a recipe that she really wanted to try (Emeril), but we found it too sweet!,  so she adjusted the seasoning’s for the wings and the sauce and it turned out perfect!

I don’t remember the last time that we fried wings at our house. Since we started baking our wings we found a tasty and less messy way to make this delicious finger food. Wings for us work as an appetizer or as a main dish along with veggies or salad. We don’t have any problem with leftovers that’s why Marilyn always makes a big pan so we can snack on them anytime the next day.

I can’t believe that in a couple of days it will be 2016. This year went so fast! We took a couple of days off from the blog to enjoy Christmas and to enjoy at least one day without doing anything. It was so nice but at the same time weird to not wake up thinking about everything we need to do for the blog on our days off.

Who is already thinking about doing a detox, diet or even starting to eat healthier next year?? lol  Every year is the same, right?! We read this article in The New York Times that was written a few months ago but we are reposting today: Simple Rules for Healthy Eating.

EXTRA MOIST OVEN BAKED WINGS
 
Ingredients
  • 5 lbs. Chicken wings, separated
  • 1 T. Kosher salt
  • 1 T. Dried cilantro
  • 2 tsp. Dried basil
  • 1 tsp. Dried parsley
  • 1 tsp. Dried thyme
  • 1 tsp. Dried oregano
  • 1 tsp. Granulated onion
  • 1 tsp. Red pepper flakes
  • ¾ tsp. Chinese five spice
  • ¼ tsp. Granulated garlic
  • ¼ tsp. Ground ginger
  • ⅛ tsp. Ground coriander
  • ½ tsp. Pepper
  • 2 c. Fresh orange juice
  • 1 c. Pineapple juice
  • ½ c. Sugar
  • ½ c. Soy sauce
  • ½ c. Mirin
  • 2 T. Orange zest
  • 2 T. Minced garlic
  • 3 T. Fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 T. Green onions, minced
  • 1 T. Sesame oil
  • ¾ tsp. Red pepper flakes
  • ¼ c. Sriracha
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 425F.
  2. In a large bowl toss wings with salt, Dried cilantro, dried basil, dried parsley,
  3. Granulated onion, red pepper flakes, chinese five spice, Granulated garlic, ground ginger, ground coriander and pepper.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Place on baking sheet lined with foil and Cook until browned, 35-40 minutes.
  6. Reduce heat to 350F.
  7. In a large pan combine remaining Ingredients over medium high heat.
  8. Bring to a boil then turn heat to medium and reduce sauce until thickened and syrupy.
  9. Toss the cooked wings with half of the sauce, reserving the remainder, and place chicken on a wire rack on a baking sheet and place back into the oven set at 350.
  10. Cook an additional 20 minutes until crispy.
  11. Serve wings with remaining sauce on the side.

    I can’t tell you how excited I am to try these! I’ve been looking for very flavorful food since I went off of gluten and this looks like it will fill that void! Plus…my husband LOVES “savory” which he defines as “as many flavors as possible.”

Brazi Bites Jalapeño Popovers
Ingredients:

1 bag Brazi Bites, defrosted

4 ea. Jalapeños

2 oz. shredded mozzarella

1 oz. cream cheese

1 T. Green onions, diced

Directions:

Cut the ends off of the jalapeños and slice down the middle.

Clean out seeds and place flat side down onto a sheet pan.

Brush lightly with oil and broil in oven until skin blisters. 
Peel the skin off of the jalapeños and small dice.

In a medium bowl mix diced jalapeños, mozzarella, cream cheese and green onions until combined.

Place Brazi Bites onto an oiled sheet pan. With your finger, press down into the Brazi Bite to create a small indentation in the top.

Place 1/2 tsp. Of the jalapeño mix in the indentation.

Place in a 400F oven and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.

Serve warm.
