Chloe (chloezinha, Chlo Chlo, my love, my life and pink is her favorite color) these are a few of the nicknames that I call Chloe daily. And it’s going to be a name you’re going to read a lot here. I’m obsessed with dogs, especially with Chloe! This obsession with dogs came from my mom (I’ll tell you this story in a different post!) Today, I am going to introduce you a little bit to my ” happy world” called Chloe!
I adopted Chloe when I lived in Florida and was searching to buy a teacup Yorkshire… lol You must be thinking “wow” from a Yorkshire to a Pit Bull! I changed my mind the minute I saw Chloe’s face on Craigslist ..I fell in love with her right away. I knew she should/would be mine. Chloe changed my life, changed the way I used to think about pit bulls and about adoption.
A short story about how I got Chloe. The lady that was “giving” Chloe away told me that she was moving to a different city and couldn’t take Chloe with her… Later on, I had to call the same lady to ask her some information about Chloe because I was moving to Washington and in some areas here you can’t have pitt bulls…. Unbelievable !!
That same lady told me the REAL story about Chloe. One day she was driving and saw a dog (Chloe) thrown out a car window while the car was moving . Chloe was then hit by a motorcycle and had her hips broken. I was speechless, sad and brokenhearted by this horrible but very common story of violence behind dogs, especially pit bulls.
Being a pit bull owner is not easy! You need to fight for them everyday, to be respected, to show your neighbors, your family, that pit bulls are one of the most lovable dogs in the world. Most people look at you as a “monster” having a “monster dog”. Pit bulls have a horrible reputation!! People forget that behind a dog there’s an owner. I have so many stories! Once I was walking with Chloe and a lady stopped her car and told me I wasn’t allowed to walk with Chloe on her street (it was a public street). I told her right away that I would keep walking with Chloe, I was on a public street and Chloe had her leash on. I told her if she had any problem with Chloe and me she could call the police anytime.. I wasn’t doing anything wrong. How dare you tell me I couldn’t walk with my love???? I kept walking with Chloe not only one time a day but two times a day!!! Done!
Chloe is the most special dog I’ve ever seen (she is on our Instagram). She is so personable, sweet, smart, loves to sleep next to anyone and “talks” (she howls when she wants to play) . Besides doing my makeup, playing with Chloe and Cody (our other dog- I’ll post about him later) is one of my favorite thing to do in life.
For now that’s it!! This section on the blog is very important to me! I look forward to talking more about dogs especially the issues surrounding them such as violence, adoption and more….
Beijos e Tchau!
