While our friends from France were here they had so many things they wanted to do and we wanted to join them! So one day they talked about going to the San Juan Islands to go kayaking…we were totally up for it!!! Neither one of us had done that before and with our expert outdoor guests, it was the perfect time to try!! So we had an adventure!
We drove about an hour and a half to Anacortes where we had to get the ferry. We had so much fun! We ate lunch, had some drinks, and watched the beautiful scenery during the hour and a half ride to Friday Harbor…the tip of the San Juan Islands.
Right across the street from the ferry terminal was San Juan Kayak Expeditions…..the company we decided to take our tour with.
They were amazing !! We had called ahead to see if we could get their sunset tour early….they said no problem! So off we went on a “3 hour tour”!!!! After some instruction and safety lessons, we went kayaking among amazing blue water, beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife.
We kayaked along the coastline, under bridges and in the open water. We saw herons, seals and bald eagles…..We had a blast! We even saw a party on a private island…and one of the guests doing a naked cannonball off of the deck…we all cheered!!! Lol!!!
Of course, Instagram time (here)!! lol

An amazing experience!
When we got back we had missed the early ferry, so with a few hours to spare we spent the evening in Friday Harbor at a cute restaurant enjoying some local seafood, great company, charming ambiance and great cocktails. Our friends said they thought the whole day was a lifetime experience and one of the most beautiful places they had ever seen.
On a different day we also had another outdoor adventure. We drove to Leavenworth, a small city with German influences almost two hours from Seattle.
It is a very cute city to visit!
We had lunch at the park and after that we drove to Snoqualmie falls.
Snoqualmie Falls is one of Washington state’s most popular scenic attractions and from Seattle is only a 30 minute drive.
At the falls you will find a gift shop, observation deck, the Salish Lodge and the famous 270 foot waterfall. The views are amazing from the viewing points. Even though we got some amazing photographs of the waterfall, it couldn’t capture the beauty that you witness first hand when you are there. Definitely worth a visit.
It is a perfect place for hiking or spending a day for a picnic with friends and family!
